(Should have blogged about it long ago.)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Teaching mathematics with a new philosophy&#8221;,\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div style=\"MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0in\">Part 1: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scienceandculture-isna.org\/July-aug-2011\/03%20C%20K%20Raju.pdf \">\u201cFormal mathematics as biased metaphysics\u201d,<br \/>\n<\/a>\u00a0<em>Science and Culture<\/em> <strong>77<\/strong>(7-8) (2011) pp. 275-80<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0in\">Part 2: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scienceandculture-isna.org\/July-aug-2011\/04%20C%20K%20Raju2.pdf\">\u201cCalculus without limits\u201d<\/a>\u00a0<br \/>\n<em>Science and Culture<\/em> <strong>77<\/strong>(7-8) (2011) pp. 281-86<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0in\">Formal mathematics is difficult because of the\u00a0church metaphysics in it, which has nil practical value.\u00a0The simple solution is to\u00a0teach calculus for practical purposes,\u00a0the way it historically developed in India, together with the philosophy of zeroism. It works!<\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0in\">This religious bias in mathematics\u00a0crept into Newtonian physics through calculus in a subtle way, and into Stephen Hawking&#8217;s\u00a0singularity theory\u00a0in a not so subtle way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0in\">&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0in\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ckraju.net\/blog\/?p=50\">Hawking&#8217;s singularities <\/a>are\u00a0about the failure of the metric tensor to be twice\u00a0continuously differentiable.\u00a0This is absurdly interpreted by Hawking to\u00a0mean a &#8220;moment of creation&#8221;,\u00a0\u00a0at which the &#8220;laws&#8221; of physics fail!
